Welcome to the Society

The Society runs a miniature railway, with over 2000ft of 5" and 7¼" dual-gauge track and a loop of 3.5" and 5" dual-gauge raised track. More pictures and videos of the site in action can be seen in the Picture Gallery.

Our five acre site is being developed as a community project and includes a clubhouse, workshops and a short traction engine road. The site plan includes a large pond for model boats as a future project.

On Wednesday evening meetings members share their experiences of model engineering in all its forms. The main focus is on building and running miniature railways, traction engines and other steam vehicles, stationary engines and hot air engines.

A portable track is operated by the society at shows and events in and around the Newport area providing train rides for the public. Key annual events supported include the Severn Valley Railway open weekends, the Five Locks open day and the Usk Show.

The Society runs trips to Model Engineering Shows and Exhibitions and we have engineering-related "bric a brac" auctions and social events during the year. Public and Society Events sections include full lists of events.

Public Events

The site is open to the public on the first Saturday of the month from March to October, from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm - see Public Events for dates. There is also a Facebook page for these events.
